Day 3- Meal Planning

Sunday, January 3, 2010
The green thing of today: planning meals in advance. The purpose of meal planning is to reduce the number of trips you make to the grocery store, therefore spending less money and using less fuel, and always knowing what you will be eating, therefore you will buy only what you need and waste less food.

Throwing away food is harmful to the environment because it is a waste of resources. Producing food requires water, energy and packaging. Why waste all that by throwing away food? Food isn't free- you are also throwing away money when you throw away food.

I have tried meal planning and posting meal plans (when I remember to make them) at my other blog. I am now commited to making and posting them as a part of my 365 day challenge to help the Earth.

I came across a UK site called Love Food, Hate Waste which is a great resource to help you figure out ways to waste less food.
