I am just about out of shampoo. I have a few washes left then that's it for the bottle. I decided I'd be proactive and figure out whether I would be repurchasing the stuff I currently use or if it would need to be replaced, as per Day 7's green act. Sadly, my HealthySexyHair Pumpkin shampoo is getting the boot. It scored a 6 on Skin Deep's rating system. I also found out it contains parabens, which I knew nothing about until recently. Parabens are commonly used as a preservative in cosmetic products. From what I have read, parabens, which are easily absorbed through the skin, mimic the release of estrogen. Too much estrogen can result in hormonal mood distrubances, weight gain, etc.. Studies have shown that parabens have also been found in breast tumour tissue. While it is important to note that the results are inconclusive, I would sooner not risk breast cancer and other complications related to parabens. So I'm ditching my HealthySexyHair shampoo, because parabens are neither healthy nor are they sexy. I ordered Aubrey Organics Blue Camomile Hydrating shampoo. Hopefully I like it, or I will be on the hunt for something new again!

I have looked long and hard for years for a safe shampoo. I am using Aubrey Organics conditioner right now. I do like the brand-but I continue to search for other products. I also like a small organic company called Poof's Closet www.poofscloset.com/servlet/StoreFront. Your 365 day challenge is brilliant. I love checking in to see where your journey is taking you. Lori
I like Jason. It's not fancy, but I think that most of the claims made by those brands are BS anyway!
PS. I just tried doing the no 'poo method of baking soda and vinegar. Not impressed. My hair feels sticky and brittle. Yuck!
Baby steps!
I really like Green Beaver. It's very natural and it's Canadian! I also use thier toothpaste and body wash. Check them out.
Also, if you're looking for new ideas, do a post on flouride free toothpaste. Talk about toxic crap in out toothpaste and water!
Ooh thanks Callista- I'm almost out of Crest and have been thinking that I probably should look for a better toothpaste!
