Day 25- Hair Washing

Monday, January 25, 2010
It has been a loooong day and I'm exhausted and should be in bed, but being the committed blogger than I am, I will still let you know what green change I am making. It's an easy one, one that I don't really mind making. I will not be washing my hair as often. Before you start crinkling your nose and saying "ewww", you should know that I tend to wash my hair before leaving the house... even if I just washed it the day before and my hair doesn't need washing. It will be washed as needed. Of course I would never let it get gross or anything like that, but clean hair doesn't need to be washed just out of habit. This change will save water, energy and salon products (the longer I can stretch my products, the less often I have to buy them, which means less garbage waste).

Goodnight!

Its also better for your hair not to get washed every day.

Yep, I've switched to washing my hair every 2nd day and I've noticed major improvements. It used to fall out all the time and now it is much stronger!

I have been trying to stretch the time between washes too. You could try some eco-dry shampoo in the interim. At least you won't be using water and energy to heat the water!!

I don't know if this is enviromentally friendly or not, but I find my hair gets greasy looking very quickly. I mostly don't washit daily out of laziness. :) So on those greasy looking days I sprinkle a little baby powder in my hair and comb it out. The powder absorbs all the oil and it looks as good as new.
