Day 51- Shopping Spree

Today I went on a bit of a shopping spree. In my pajamas. In the comfort of my own home. Ahhh, internet shopping. As a person who lives in a very small town, outside of a very small city, it is more eco friendly for me to order online than to drive all the way into the city to purchase these items- items I'm not even sure I'd find in the city! If they were sold locally, it would likely require going to multiple locations trying to find these things, which would mean more fuel emissions.

According to the Non-Profit Center for Energy and Climate Solutions, "Shipping 10 pounds of packages by overnight air, the most energy-intensive delivery mode, uses 40 percent less fuel than driving round trip to the mall. Ground shipping by truck uses just one-tenth of the energy of driving yourself."

So there we go. I feel good about my decision and plan to buy more things online if they're not easily accessible or if I don't have another reason to make a trip into the city.
